After more than 20 days of hard training in the rarified air of the northern Italian Alps, Belarus’ Darya Domracheva and her teammates had a full day off from training.
The number two ranked biathlete in the world was feeling good on a perfect early summer day; singing with friends on the drive to Livigno and doing a bit of retail therapy while picking up a few gifts for family back home, before sitting down for a cup of coffee and a chat. Photographed in a flower-filled mountain meadow, it was quite obvious that this she enjoyed every part of the break from the everyday grind of training.
The atmosphere after shopping on a bright bright day far from the intense atmosphere of the biathlon stadium and the rigors of training helped keep the conversation light. The ever-charming Domracheva talked about a variety of subjects over the coffee, ranging from her sunny outlook on life, to fans, the Eurovision Song contest, and her Sochi dreams.
Since this interview, Domracheva and her teammates have spent some time at home in Belarus and are now in the middle of another training camp in Voukatti, Finland, as they continue to prepare for the upcoming E.ON IBU World Cup Biathlon season and the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.
